  • 6,051 public pay telephones providing universal telecommunications service

During 2Q 2009 the branch placed IP TV service (DOMOLINK TV) into commercial operation.

The telephone network of Moscow branch is closely connected with MGTS, Rostelecom network, and also represents Russian public telephone network. The branch interconnects other telecom operators with public telephone network in Moscow region.

During 2008-2009 a major reconstruction of network was undertaken in Moscow region. To date the installed capacity of electronic automated telephone exchanges is over 1.14 million numbers. Digitalization level of the network reached 65.65% as of January 1, 2009. Waiting list of individuals' applications for installation of fixed line telephone lines in 2008 was cut in half, from 132,295 to 48,296 applications. Number of DOMOLINK users tripled: from 39,226 to 116,563 subscribers.

Moscow branch has completed work on two tenders won by the company in 2006-2007. In accordance with these tenders, in 2007-2008 the branch installed 6,051 public pay telephones providing universal telecommunications services in 4,069 localities of Moscow region. The list of localities covered by the program was developed jointly with Moscow Region Administration. It provided for the installation of public pay telephones in the most essential locations in the region.

Construction and placing into operation of a 10G trunk network in Moscow region was another important achievement of the branch. Currently the branch is switching its subscribers to new equipment, working on traffic migration from 1G data transmission networks to the new 10G network. This will support improved quality of broadband Internet access services and allow installation of additional ports for connection of new users. After putting the 10G network into operation the branch will be able to offer VPN services to its corporate clients and IP TV services to individual subscribers.

At the same time the branch completed on time the next stage of construction and installation of NGN equipment in Moscow region. Reconstruction of CenterTelecom's zonal telecommunications network in the region is now implemented in full. Zonal telecommunications network will now allow transfer traffic between telephone networks of Moscow city and Moscow region.

The branch has also successfully addressed the challenge of expanding points of interconnect (POIs) with Rostelecom's long distance network and of increasing the number of POIs for interconnection of local telephone operators CenterTelecom zonal telecommunications network.

Among Moscow branch's more recent socially focused projects are 100% provision of Internet access to Moscow region's schools, significant expansion of the company's payment acceptance outlets network, and launch of a number of advanced information and maintenance services.
